December Glam Bag Review

Here’s what I’ve received this month. What I LOVE, and what I’m not thrilled about.
Quick Look: *starred items* I love!

  1. Royal & Langnickel “Angle Shader Brush” Use this brush to apply shadow right into the crease of the eye. Its made with synthetic bristles so it works well with both creams and powders. The quality of the brush is nice for its price point, but I prefer a fluffy brush without an angle to apply eyeshadow.
  2. *Smashbox Cosmetics “Insta-Matte lipstick Transformer” a silky smooth translucent gel that transforms any cream lipstick into a velvety matte finish. I am so surprised with this product! I wasn’t expecting it to work, but it did exactly what it said. I LOVE this, and will purchase for my professional kit.
  3. *NYX Professional Makeup Prismatic Shadow “Fireball” A shimmery eyeshadow in a rose-gold color. This eyeshadow is only $6 so I wasn’t expecting much. Surprisingly it’s super smooth, with great color payoff. I LOVE this and would purchase more like it.
  4. City Color Cosmetics, Be Matte Blush “Fresh Melon, Blackberry, and Guava”  An ultra-fine pressed powder with build-able pigmentation. I think the quality of this product is sub-par and the color’s aren’t versatile, so I’m not a fan.
  5. Privai “Aqua Gel Masque” Made with chamomile flower, azulene and green tea to sooth and calm skin. The packaging says this is perfect for after a day in the sun or an active peel where the skin is parched. I think I will wait til summer to use this. It honestly seems like a very expensive version of Aloe Vera, so I don’t plan on getting too attached.

Holiday Favorites | Hair + Makeup

’tis the Season for Christmas and Holiday Parties! Not sure how you want to wear your hair or makeup? Keep reading for fun holiday inspiration (and potential gift ideas!)

the Hair

for Volume use Big Sexy Hair “Powder Play,” which is ideal for instant volume on dry hair. A couple shakes on your roots, let it sit for a couple seconds (as it absorbas excess product and oil on your scalp) and tease with a comb.

for the Curl use Bellami “6 in 1 Complete Curler Set,” easily one of my favorites, for its six interchangeable barrels. Get the range of tight curls to loose beachy waves. It’s fused with ceramic and creates silky smooth curls that last! *this is on sale right now! Normally $299.99 now for $139.99!!

make it Last with Fave4 “Style Stay.” Wearing your hair up? This is for you! Spray 10-12 inches away from your style for endless style. Color safe & free of Gluten/Parabens/Sulfate

the Makeup

bright Red Lips are in this time of year! Line and fill in lips with NYX Retractable Lip Liner in “Red” or “Ruby.” This gives lips a great shape, and a good foundation for the lip color to set on. Try Lip Tar “NSFW- True Balanced Red” or Anastasia Beverly Hills Liquid Lipstick “American Doll” for a bright, rich and pigmented red that will last all night long! *MAC’s Ruby Woo (not pictured) is also one of my favorites!

standout Eyes can be opened up easily with a set of false lashes like Lilly Lashes “Miami.” Want something a little more natural? Try Ardell “Demi Wispies.”

    2. MAC | 210 | Precise Eyeliner Brush : Synthetic fiber, with an extra-fine tip, and just the right length and density for lining eyes.
    3. MAC | 228 | Mini Shader Brush : Firm and natural fiber, with a slightly round tip. Perfect for precise shadow application and smudging. I love using this brush to apply shadow to my lower lash line — creating a soft and natural look.
    4. *MAC | 217 | Blending Brush : Natural fibered brush, perfect for shading or blending powdery or creamy products. *This is my favorite brush!

Adventures with IPSY

October Glam Bag Review

This month I decided to give IPSY a try. Not sure what ISPY is? Allow me to fill you in.

Its pretty simple actually, each month you’ll get a cute little bag filled with products trending in the beauty world —  some full sized and some sample — and all for $10 a month, pretty great right?
Here’s how you join in: Subscribe online. Fill out the questionnaire with answers about your eye color, hair color, interests, etc. Each month you’ll receive a personalized glam bag with five new products.

Here’s what I’ve received this month, what I LOVE, and what I’m not thrilled about.
Quick Look: *starred items* I love!

  1. Sally’s Box “Aqua Moist Gel Cream” – A gel type cream made of  “flower water from Provence roses, chamomile and lavender”. Not a huge fan of gel cream’s because on my skin, they tend to dry out — Not thrilled about it.
  2. Trust Fund Beauty “Gimme Good Face” Face Primer – A vegan/cruelty free primer scented with eucalyptus. I really do enjoy this because it does exactly what the box says — fills in pores and smooths lines (plus it smells great!) I am always looking for a good primer, so I am going to experiment and pair this with different types of foundations — will keep you posted!
  3. *Lottie London “Perfectly Precise Eyeshadow Brush” –  Love this brush! First off, the color of this brush is awesome! Most of my brushes are black and I tend to sport the “dazed and confused” look while searching for the right one. Second, as this brush is made out dense and synthetic fibers it makes it perfect for both powder and cream shadows. Finally, it doubles as a shadow brush and an eyeliner smudger — LOVE this and would repurchase more like it.
  4. treStique Matte Lip Crayon in “Belize Bordeaux” – A deep wine colored matte lipstick in a “crayon” like form. I was more interested in the application and color payoff of this lipstick. It is super smooth, creamy and easy to work with — especially considering the fact that it is matte (most matte lip products can be dry and difficult to apply.) The packaging is unique, I actually thought it was opened when I got it because it’s the lid that looks like the actual crayon. Overall, this is a nice lipstick to keep in your purse, but I am not overly thrilled about it.
  5. *Kat Von D Beauty “Tattoo Liner” in the shade ‘Trooper’ – A liquid ‘fool proof’ liner. With a flexible brush like tip, it’s super easy to draw thin lines or a dramatic wing. It’s also waterproof, fade-proof, melt-proof and run-proof! LOVE — I have used this every day since I got it and would definitely purchase again!
