the Top Seven | for the Face

  1. *ZOEVA | 104 | Buffer : Natural Vegan bristles, dense and soft, to create a natural, flawless foundation finish. Picks up any kind of cream/liquid without absorbtion.
  2. MAC | 184 | Duo Fibre Fan Brush : Synthetic fibers, in a flat, fan-shape, that work especially well with highlighter, or to dust away excess product.
  3. *ZOEVA | 101 | Luxe Face Definer : Natural-synthetic hair mix, produces a smooth and even application of pressed and loose powders. The tapered shape of this brush makes it the perfect tool to contour your face.
  4. MAC | 163 | Se Flat Contour Brush  : Short, silky and synthetic bristles, designed to create sharp contours with sculpting products.
  5. Sephora | 44 | Pro Stippling Brush  : Natural-synthetic hair mix — the white, taklon bristles apply product, and the black goat bristles blend. This stippling brush perfectly applies powder, liquid, and cream. I prefer it for blush.
  6. MAC | 150 | Large Powder Brush : Synthetic fiber, full and dense and ideal brush for dusting loose or pressed bronzer and blush onto the face.
  7. *Sephora | 30 | Must Have Large Powder  : This has been one of my all time favorite brushes for years!! Synthetic bristles in a full-bodied brush, perfect for evenly applying loose or pressed powders. Ideal for creating an even, matte finish. Adventures with IPSY

October Glam Bag Review

This month I decided to give IPSY a try. Not sure what ISPY is? Allow me to fill you in.

Its pretty simple actually, each month you’ll get a cute little bag filled with products trending in the beauty world —  some full sized and some sample — and all for $10 a month, pretty great right?
Here’s how you join in: Subscribe online. Fill out the questionnaire with answers about your eye color, hair color, interests, etc. Each month you’ll receive a personalized glam bag with five new products.

Here’s what I’ve received this month, what I LOVE, and what I’m not thrilled about.
Quick Look: *starred items* I love!

  1. Sally’s Box “Aqua Moist Gel Cream” – A gel type cream made of  “flower water from Provence roses, chamomile and lavender”. Not a huge fan of gel cream’s because on my skin, they tend to dry out — Not thrilled about it.
  2. Trust Fund Beauty “Gimme Good Face” Face Primer – A vegan/cruelty free primer scented with eucalyptus. I really do enjoy this because it does exactly what the box says — fills in pores and smooths lines (plus it smells great!) I am always looking for a good primer, so I am going to experiment and pair this with different types of foundations — will keep you posted!
  3. *Lottie London “Perfectly Precise Eyeshadow Brush” –  Love this brush! First off, the color of this brush is awesome! Most of my brushes are black and I tend to sport the “dazed and confused” look while searching for the right one. Second, as this brush is made out dense and synthetic fibers it makes it perfect for both powder and cream shadows. Finally, it doubles as a shadow brush and an eyeliner smudger — LOVE this and would repurchase more like it.
  4. treStique Matte Lip Crayon in “Belize Bordeaux” – A deep wine colored matte lipstick in a “crayon” like form. I was more interested in the application and color payoff of this lipstick. It is super smooth, creamy and easy to work with — especially considering the fact that it is matte (most matte lip products can be dry and difficult to apply.) The packaging is unique, I actually thought it was opened when I got it because it’s the lid that looks like the actual crayon. Overall, this is a nice lipstick to keep in your purse, but I am not overly thrilled about it.
  5. *Kat Von D Beauty “Tattoo Liner” in the shade ‘Trooper’ – A liquid ‘fool proof’ liner. With a flexible brush like tip, it’s super easy to draw thin lines or a dramatic wing. It’s also waterproof, fade-proof, melt-proof and run-proof! LOVE — I have used this every day since I got it and would definitely purchase again!

Red Lips

Get the Look

When it comes to my own makeup, I’m all about the eyes. Now this doesn’t mean that I’m slacking in other areas, it just means that I try to make them the focal point — the first thing people notice.

Today, thought it’d be fun to change up the ‘focal point’.  What better way than a sleek and classic RED lip.
Keep reading to get this look.

Makeup

the Lips: Anastasia Beverly Hills Liquid Lipstick in “American Doll” + Buxom Lip Polish ” Cherry Flip – Red Poppy”
*When applying a liquid lipstick or liner, start at the outer corners and work towards the middle.  You’ll naturally draw a smoother and more generous line.

the Skin: apply MakeUp ForEver Mat Velvet Foundation in Shade “35” with a damp beauty blender, conceal with Urban Decay “Naked Skin Weightless Complete Coverage Concealer” , set with Laura Mercier “Transluscent” Setting Powder and warm up the cheeks with Too Faced “Chocolate Solei” Bronzer

Hair

Beachy Waves: start with Fav4 “Twice as Thick” cream and apply it to towel dried hair. Blow dry hair from roots to ends — use a round brush around your hairline to smooth any fly-aways. With the Bellami “6-in-1 Complete Curler Set” use the 25 mm barrel and wrap hair in 1” sections around the wand. After all hair has been waved, flip your head upside down and with your fingers, comb through to loosen the waves.  Finish with  Fav4 “Texture Takeover” to create a messy, texturized and voluminous hold.

Fall Makeup Favorites

Seven must have products for the Fall

Rich autumn shades and unique formulas to help transition your look into a cooler and dry season

Here come the autumn colored days and cool nights. Bringing out our warm scarves and sweaters, and of course — the pumpkin spiced latte’s. The best part of all – my fall makeup favorites.

  1. NARSAll Day Luminous Weightless Foundation
a matte, full coverage and natural looking foundation — creates a smooth and even toned complexion that will last all day
  2. NARSRadiant Creamy Concealer
medium to full coverage concealer that is long wearing and crease proof — creamy texture and luminous finish is perfect for under the eye area — that tends to get a little dry as we head into the chillier days
  3. Becca CosmeticsPressed Shimmer Skin Perfecter in the shade “Opal”
a golden, opal-pearl, luminescent pressed powder —  my new favorite — love it for the fall for the warm and natural luminosity it shows — best used on the cheekbones, brow-bone, cupids bow and bridge of your nose
  4. Anastasia Beverly Hills | Eye Shadow Singles (from left to right)
“Orange Soda” – ultra-matte, pastel peach — a warm “transition” shade for both natural and smokey eyes
“Sienna” – ultra-matte, earthy brown — looks almost like a brick red and is a perfect crease color
“Deep Plum” – ultra-matte, deep purple — such a versatile shade that can be used all over the lid for a plum colored smokey eye or as a crease color for a “natural” smokey eye – my personal favorite to emphasize brown eyes!
“Smoke” – ultra-matte, charcoal brown — a deep dark chocolate brown that works best in the outer corner of your eye makeup or apply it with an angled liner brush to your lash-line to create a smokey eyeliner
  5. Bobbi Brown | Bronzing Powder in the shade “Medium”
lightweight, matte, medium brown bronzer — a perfect bronzer to transition your skin from summer to fall, its not too warm and not too cool — its just right!
  6. Anastasia Beverly Hills | Liquid Lipstick in the shade “Veronica”
a matte, taupe, mauve shade that lasts all day long — so drink as many pumpkin spiced latte’s as you want without having to touch up!
  7. MAC | BlushMineralized Blush (from left to right)
“Fever”, a matte, cool toned, mauve blush and “Lovejoy” in a mineralized formula — two rich autumn reds, both compliment the cheeks with a warming soft look
